Presentation
The RomAfrica Film Festival (Raff) will be celebrating its ninth edition in 2023. The festival’s goals are to show Africa via the continent’s cinema and to bring the very best of the continent’s film production to Rome.
Once again, the purpose of this year’s event, which will take place from the 14th to the 16th of July, is to tell the realities of Africa in a way that goes beyond cliches, demonstrating to the general public the diversity and cultural vibrancy that this enthralling continent has to offer. Additionally, it will be a chance to confront global and current issues through the medium of cinema. In honour of Nelson Mandela, a national hero who is revered across the globe, a gathering to commemorate his life will take place on the evening of July 16th. The Italian Black Movie Awards will also be presented as an additional event.
Screenings and additional events will take place throughout each day. Movies and debates will be combined with short films and documentaries. In most cases, the feature films and documentaries that are a part of the program will be showed in their original language with Italian subtitles.
