Presentation: “Cineforum” new series launch

At the beginning of 2021, the historic Italian film criticism magazine “Cineforum” changed: book format, quarterly, a constant exchange of ideas with the website cineforum.it. Nei primi numeri della nuova serie, la riflessione su temi e oggetti “caldi” dell’immaginario si accompagna all’attualità, con le recensioni dei film più importanti sugli schermi o in streaming, e alla analisi costante di pezzi della storia del cinema.
In the the new series first issues, the thought on “hot” topics of the “imaginaire” goes hand in hand with reviews of the most important new movies and with essays on film history. A well written and well thought out magazine, thanks to the precious help of the excellent historic contributors and of many new writers, who are among the best Italian film critics. Let’s mention a name for all: Gianni Amelio, who rediscovers “les films maudits” in his column.
In the first issues, articles about the new African American film directors and writers, the socialist utopia in contemporary cinema, the complex female portraits of last century’s cinema.
In issue n. 3 (which, actually, corresponds to n.596 and whose cover is devoted to Frank Herbert’s cult book Dune and its film misadventures): spy movies (OSS 117 trilogy, writers and spies, women in cloak and dagger), reviews of Nanni Moretti’s “Tre piani”, “The French Dispatch”, “Marx può aspettare”, fifty years of Ken Rusell’s “The Devils”, rediscovering Alberto Lattuada, and much more.
